While we're not really sure
if these guys should be here, or in the Boating
section, we can't miss an opportunity to call some attention to the Floating
Neutrinos. This band of adventurers represent the exact opposite
end of the spectrum from most world traveling adventurers. The
Neutrinos are a small group of homeless folk, who've crossed the North
Atlantic in a homemade raft made out of scraps and junk. Their
latest adventure after that was a float all the way down the Mississippi
River in another scrap raft.
Well, this year
the Eco-Challenge television coverage moved from the Discovery Channel to
the USA Networks. We're not too thrilled with the change. Be
sure to check out our Eco-Challenge section to find out why and to read
more about this awesome adventure race.
Our Global Crossings section is setup to chronicle
all the different types of adventurers that set out to circumnavigate the
globe in one form or another.
Many refer to Antarctica as the last true wilderness on Earth. We
agree with that assessment, and love to follow the exploits of those who
travel there for scientific study and personal challenge. The North
Pole is also an area we're extremely interested in, and we've found many
who've made unique expeditions to this most inhospitable of all
places. Be sure to check out our North and
South Poles section to see what's new on the ends of the Earth.
As a contrast to the well-organized large scale races and expeditions that
take place around the world, there are the Solo
Adventurers who take on colossal adventures alone and often unaided
but any but the most rudimentary support facilities. Some accomplish
what they set out to do, others don't but in our opinion none of them are
failures. These folks represent the most amazing human spirits we've
seen, and we've dedicated a section of this site following those who set
out on their own solo adventure. |
