Located
on the border of Utah and Idaho, this natural lake is an
excellent fishing lake, and divers enjoy it's relatively clear
waters. The lake is a unique agua-blue color, the result
of calcium carbonates suspended in the water.
|
| This
lake also offers some excellent fishing, with cutthroat trout
and Mackinaw being popular catches. Being located
relatively high in the mountains, the lake gets a fairly
regular dose of afternoon storms during the summer.
Don't be too surprised if a sudden summer thundershower
invades on your day at this lake. There is a pretty well
established sailing community on Bear Lake, and the state
marina is home to the Bear Lake Yacht Club. Bear Lake is
also sort of a "party lake" for much of the
surrounding area, so expect plenty of revelry on a Friday or
Saturday night at the southern end of the lake where the main
campground is. The area around the
lake is home to some of Utah's best Raspberry growing areas,
so don't go home without a least giving these little morsels a
taste. |
