Deer Creek Reservoir sits at the south west end of the Heber
valley, right at the top of Provo Canyon, just a shade under
50 miles from Salt Lake City. This lake is fairly
popular with the sailing and wind surfing crowd, as there
is fairly consistent winds there. The reservoir is
for the most part long and narrow, but hosts a good selection
of fish. The town of Heber, Utah is the closest
provisioning point if you're looking for groceries and such.

| The
Heber Valley is very scenic, with the backside of Mount
Timpanogas providing an awe-inspiring backdrop. The
Heber Creeper is an old steam train that is still in service,
pulling a short collection of passenger cars up and down a
portion of the Provo Canyon. As the train goes between
Heber and the canyon, it skirts the northern end of the
reservoir, making for an exciting spectacle. |
