Finally - a new look!
We're hard at work finally, putting the new site look up, and making sure all the content is fresh and newly updated.  Please bear with us over the next week or two if you find something missing or a broken link or two.  We are working hard to get caught up so if something doesn't work right today, please check back tomorrow!

Some sections gone
If you're looking around for a few of the sections we had before, I'm sorry to say that some of them are just plain gone. I decided it was time to narrow the focus of the site a bit to make sure we can really do a good job of covering the things we kept around. We were getting a little thin before, trying to offer something for everyone. We've got a new sitemap here though, so you can see all the sections.
Gunlock Reservoir, Utah
Gunlock Reservoir, Utah

Gunlock Reservoir is located in Southern Utah, this small reservoir is roughly 15 miles northwest of St. George, Utah. It's not an overly large reservoir, covering just 240 acres. The reservoir is named after the small town of Gunlock, Utah. It was created in 1970, using an earthen Dam to back up the Santa Clara River. Used primarily for irrigation and flood control, this reservoir also gets a lot of recreation use.

The Redrock Country that is home to this reservoir typically has mild winter weather and hot summers, so the season for playing on and around Gunlock is quite long compared to most Utah lakes and reservoirs. There is also pretty decent fishing here most of the time, with a good population of nice sized Largemouth Bass, and large Crappie. Unfortunately, the reservoir was drained in 2008 so that some repairs could be performed on the Dam, so while Bass and Bluegill are scheduled to be stocked in the Spring of this year (2009), expect it to take a few years for populations and sizes to get back to normal.

The Gunlock State Park is a Utah State Park, so there's a $5 per day entrance fee, which includes the use of the boat launch ramp. There's a few primitive camp spots as well, available for an additional $10 per night. You should provision up in St. George before heading out to the reservoir.
