The Issues

- Getting involved in public land issues -

	Land Use issues are a hot topic, and there are very few easy answers. We're committed to covering this topic in a fair open-minded manner. We want to preserve our precious public lands for future generations, but we also don't want to get locked out of more and more areas because others don't understand the way we chose to visit the backcountry.
Unbelievable as it may seem, the Sierra Club has been trying to create support for a movement to force the draining of Lake Powell in Southern Utah. In opposition to this group, the Friends of Lake Powell organization has been formed to insure that calmer head prevail. Please visit the Friends of Lake Powell site to see how you can help protect this wonderful Southern Utah recreation destination. At last check, Congress had passed legislation to put an end to this absurd crusade, but it never hurts to keep an eye on things.
Someone asked me once if I wasn't actually helping the Land Closure activists by providing a link to their various sites here. Here's why we do link to them -- we think it's important to stay informed about what they are doing, what they are presenting as facts, etc., and we also think that in order to really be effective on addressing these thorny issues, folks need to hear both sides of the debate. So while we don't condone the work these folks are doing, we don't think there is any benefit in ignoring them.
