We're hard at work finally, putting the new site look up, and making sure all the content is fresh and newly updated. Please bear with us over the next week or two if you find something missing or a broken link or two. We are working hard to get caught up so if something doesn't work right today, please check back tomorrow!
If you're looking around for a few of the sections we had before, I'm sorry to say that some of them are just plain gone. I decided it was time to narrow the focus of the site a bit to make sure we can really do a good job of covering the things we kept around. We were getting a little thin before, trying to offer something for everyone. We've got a new sitemap here though, so you can see all the sections.
Land and Water. Two of our most basic elements. Maybe that's part of the reason we treasure them so much. Nothing is sure to spark a fight quicker than issues relating to land or water. These issues go back to the times when we first started fencing this country off, or raising livestock or farms. And even though most of use use land and water for recreation these days, that doesn't mean the pressure has been taken off these finite resources.
Some experts are even warning that growing populations around the world will soon turn fresh water into a resource more in demand than oil is today. If we don't get the situation under control, the wars our children see in their lifetimes may easily be fought over water. Land, or more specifically open, public lands, particularly in the West where there is still a fair amount of it, is also continuing to be put under pressure as more and more people fight for access to shrinking amounts of undeveloped land.
It's a formula that is sure to keep things active, and we're not afraid to jump right into the fray and take a stand on these issues. We will always try to be fair though in our coverage, we'll let every voice be heard as much as we can, and we'll try to stay off our own soapbox. But rest assured, we DO have an opinion on a lot of what is going on and what plans are being put into place for the future, so don't expect us to bite our tongue too much.
Hopefully, some of the more timely concepts can be taken up in our message forum, where we hope to keep the debate lively and let everyone get their two cents in. If you haven't checked the forum out, I'd recommend you do that before too long, as it's the one plan everyone gets a voice. Other than the forum, we'll keep this page updated with information on a lot of the issues that are boiling right now.
We're bringing a couple of new features to the site today. One is our Event Tracker Database and the other is our Organization Tracker. With these two databases, we're now giving you the ability to tell the world about your upcoming Event, or to tell us about a Company, Club, Team, Non-Profit Organization, Website or the like. Using the links below, you can now add information in to the database, or see what we currently have listed.
While we're getting the thing populated, we're also working on more detailed search and query options, to make it easier for you to search for a local event or a specific vendor, organization, etc. Take a look and if you know about something that's not in here, go ahead and feel free to post the information
