Ok, I have to confess, I've never been up in a glider yet, but I vividly recall a day in Southern California, in a Glider Park on a hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean, watching a glider climb and dive next to the hill.  On each dive, their was this singing sound coming from the wings as the bird gathered speed, the pilot would dip down close enough to just skim the waves, then climb again as he as he could before banking around and repeating the process.  It looked like the guy was having a blast!

Gliding also offers a unique opportunity to younger flying enthusiasts, in fact a good friend of ours plans to solo on her 14th birthday this June.  We wish you well Heather!
